Ants of India

ANeT-India

ANeT (International Network for Study of Asian ants) was established initially with the following objectives:

To promote myrmecology in Asia

To buildup reference ant collections

To promote more interactions among myrmecologists around the globe

The journey has been successful so far, can be judged from the fact that apart from working hard to meet the above mentioned objectives; the network has been able to organize international conferences on ants at Bangkok (1999 and 2003), Malaysia Sabah (2000), Hanoi Vietnam (2001), Kualalumpur (2005) and India (2007). Besides the other significant achievements are:

Launching of journal-Asian Myrmecology (first issue already published)

Action Plan for conservation of Ants- making progress

More than 70 members from different parts of world working on various aspects of  myrmecology

With this sort of framework (already making progress), it was decided to launch regional ANeTs in respective countries (ANeT Thai is on the move now). And at recently concluded International conference on Ants (India), ANeT-India was launched.
